Summer 2026
García Rínaldi Foundation — Pre-Medicine Summer Program
Accepted to one of Puerto Rico's most prestigious pre-medical training programs. The program includes academic and clinical rotations, a two-month research project with assigned mentors, and group volunteer service (May 11 — August 8, 2026).

Shadowing and observation experience at Hospital Ryder (founded 1914), one of Puerto Rico's historic medical institutions — gaining first-hand exposure to patient care and hospital operations.

Featured Project — Enlace Azul
Preparing the community to respond to a health emergency
Schools practice what to do in a fire, an earthquake, or a security situation — but what does an ordinary person do when someone next to them suffers a stroke, a heart attack, or severe bleeding? That question, asked during the Dr. García Rinaldi Foundation summer program in 2026, became Enlace Azul, a community education project on first aid and emergency response that María Fernanda co-founded.

Our partner — SER de Puerto Rico
75 years serving people with functional diversity
Founded in 1950, SER de Puerto Rico provides medical, therapeutic and educational services to people with functional diversity, and was the first center on the island to bring together, under one roof, the resources for their comprehensive rehabilitation.
For three generations, families across Puerto Rico have turned to SER for therapies, specialized equipment, education and employment support that are hard to find anywhere else. Its annual Teletón, now in its 50th edition, is one of the island's great acts of collective solidarity, and in 2026 SER was declared Patrimonio del Pueblo by law in recognition of 75 years of uninterrupted service. Partnering with SER gave Enlace Azul its clearest conviction: emergency preparedness has to include the people most often left out of it.

The Sailor
An award-winning competitive sailor who represented her school and Puerto Rico in the sport of sailing. A shoulder injury has paused her athletic career, but the discipline, resilience, and competitive drive she built on the water continue to shape everything she does.
